P. E. Melin
Professor of Greek and Hebrew, 1875-1878
(This series of Notable Faculty profiles was written in celebration Augustana's sesquicentennial in 2009.)
P. E. Melin came to America from Sweden and taught in Hudiksvall High School. In 1875, he was offered a position teaching Greek and Hebrew at Augustana College.
He lived in East Hall, alongside many other professors. Melin did not stay long at Augustana, though; he had economic problems due to trouble adjusting to life in America. He left Augustana after the 1877-1878 school year.
