Artist statement
I have always loved the tangibility of things. I love the feeling of having something physical in my hands. I find I appreciate things more when they are right in front of me. This is why I love playing cards. Cards have always captivated me, whether they be trading cards or tarot cards. I have been collecting decks of cards for as long as I can remember. Every deck I have in my collection is unique and special to me. For each deck I keep in my collection, I love their tactile presence and the care that goes into their design. To me, a well-made deck of cards is a piece of art you can hold, shuffle, and experience in a way that goes beyond mere function.

These feelings are what I hope to share with other people. I designed these cards, first and foremost, for me. I wanted a deck that shows my love for typography. I wanted a deck that felt luxurious. I wanted to make a deck that, most importantly, brings me joy.
I understand cards are not common things for people to nerd out about and are probably unusual. But through my custom 54-card deck, I hope people can experience my desire for tangibility. I hope that the cards not only offer visual appeal but also functionality. This is not only about creating something familiar but also about bringing artistry into something that might otherwise be overlooked. Ultimately, this deck is a celebration of and homage to playing cards and recreation.
