Campus update for July 14, 2020
July 14, 2020
Dear students,
The Augustana Strong Task Force report you got on Friday had a lot of information to digest.
Some important parts to note:
The academic calendar has changed. You now have the option not to return to campus after Thanksgiving.
Classes will be held on Labor Day (Sept. 7); a day previously scheduled for fall break (Oct. 19); and the day before Thanksgiving (Nov. 25).
The week after Thanksgiving (Nov. 30-Dec. 4) will be a study week for students in semester-long courses.
Second seven-week courses will meet virtually the week after Thanksgiving.
Finals (Dec. 7-11) can be done from a distance.
Also, here is the detailed information about fall semester from Residential Life and Dining Services.
Please use this form for follow-up questions.
Today's updates:
• Watch for a message from Residential Life this week about move-in.
• If you are near campus and happen to see a lot of police in the area tomorrow, don't worry. The Rock Island County Sheriff's Department will be training.
• TLA houses that have been turned over to Facilities Services will be rented as off-campus senior housing for the coming school year, available immediately.
A five-bedroom duplex for $400 per tenant is available; it could be a three-person duplex at $500 per month. A single bedroom in a duplex that already has two female residents also is available at $400. Contact Trisha Hines-Morrison.
Racial Justice and Social Change: Miea Walker
Registration now is open for the fourth in a series of Racial Justice and Social Change Campus Conversations.
Miea Walker, a criminal justice manager for policy and advocacy at Forward Justice, will talk about injustice and what can a college community do.
Her talk begins at 1 p.m. CDT July 23.
The conversations are hosted by the Augustana Office for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.
