College will use health screening app

July 27, 2020

Starting in the fall semester, Augustana College will require a daily health screening for all students, faculty, staff and visitors.

The college will use CampusClear, a self-screening app. This free app will be available for IOS and Android devices and will allow users to complete their daily screening quickly.

Members of the campus community will get an email invitation to download the CampusClear app and must register using their Augustana.edu email addresses. (Visitors must register with a personal email address and phone number.)

People on campus will be required to take their temperatures and complete the app's self-screening each day. Based upon their self-screening results, users will receive a response: “Welcome to campus,” “Please stay home” or “Please seek medical attention.”

Those who are symptom-free will receive a date-stamped “FastPass” on their phones allowing them campus access for the day.

Individuals who are symptomatic will not be granted the “FastPass” and will receive additional instructions on what to do next.

A personal thermometer will be provided to each student during move-in to assist with temperature checks. Also, several self-serve temperature check stations will be available in the following locations:

Sorensen Hall receiving entrance (Public Safety)
Founders Hall, main entrance
Pepsico Recreation Center, main entrance reception area
Olin Center, first floor reception area near the computer lab
Carver PE Center, main entrance reception area
Gerber Center, main entrance by Dining Services
Tredway Library, main entrance vestibule

Upon using the self-serve temperature check station, community members will need to access the app and complete the health screening to receive a FastPass.

The college is using an Internal Self Screening Tool while CampusClear is being tested and installed.
