Housing information for new students, spring 2023

→ Video: How to complete your housing application

Living on campus is one of the most memorable experiences of a student’s time at Augustana. The following steps and timetables will let you know what to do and when. If you have questions about housing, email Residential Life or call 309-794-2686.

1. Complete the housing application by Dec. 19, 2022

Start with the housing application.

Log in with your username (your Augustana email address without the "@augustana.edu") and the password you created. Please complete your housing application between Oct. 24 and Dec. 19.

If you need special accommodations in housing, complete your housing application and the request form for special accommodations and submit your medical documentation by Dec. 19.

Augustana students live on campus for three years. However, those who have a local permanent address can request to commute from home.

2. Pay your housing deposit by Dec. 19

All students residing in campus housing for the academic year are required to submit a housing deposit of $150. This will be refunded in July of your last year in campus housing.

3. Watch your email for your housing assignment

By mid-January, the Office of Residential Life will share your residence hall, room number and roommate information via email.

4. Plan to move in on Feb. 5

When students arrive they will receive their room keys and student IDs.

(New international students can plan to arrive on Jan. 2or 3.)

Frequently asked questions

Can I select my building?

No. Like other incoming students, you will be assigned randomly to a residence hall.

Can I select my roommate?

If you and another incoming student would like to request to live together, you can create a roommate group.

If you want to request to room with a current student, please email us at residentiallife@augustana.edu. Note that since available space is limited, we cannot guarantee that we will be able to honor roommate requests.

How do I request medical accommodations for housing?

If you have a medical condition that requires a particular accommodation, please complete the medical accommodation form and attach supporting documentation by Dec. 19 to ensure that you receive an assignment that meets your needs.

Do all of the halls have air conditioning?

Not all residence halls have air conditioning. While the first few weeks of the school year are warm, the weather during the spring semester ranges from comfortable to cold. If you require air conditioning due to a medical condition, please submit a medical accommodation request.

How does laundry work?

You can buy a laundry card from the Office of Residential Life or from kiosks in Westerlin, the Gerber Center, or Swanson. The laundry card works like a debit card. Laundry costs $1.25 to wash and $1.25 to dry. More information about laundry can be on our laundry page

How are the rooms furnished?

Each student will have an extra-long twin bed, a desk, a desk chair, a dresser and closet space. Each room also includes a trash bin, a recycling bin, and window blinds.

What should I bring?

Here is our list of recommended items to bring, and things you should leave at home.

What are the dimensions of my room?

We provide floor plan drawings of all of our first-year residence hall rooms online. After you get your housing assignment, you can find the dimensions of your room by choosing your hall in the list.
