Arrival and move-in for international students, spring 2026

New international students should plan to arrive at Augustana College Jan. 29-30, 2026, for the spring semester.
If you’re arriving during the designated move-in dates, here’s what to expect:
- Pick-up at your arrival destination: The Office of International Student and Scholar Services (OISSS) staff will be on hand to greet you and take you directly to check-in and then to your residence hall. The OISSS staff will pick-up at the following arrival destinations:
- Quad Cities International Airport in Moline, Illinois
- Bus stop in Rock Island, Illinois or Moline, Illinois
- Student check-in: Check-in will take place at the Swanson Commons. At check-in, you will receive your meal card and orientation welcome packet.
- Drop-off at your residence hall: After check-in, you will be taken to your assigned residence hall to move-in and unpack.
Meeting locations upon arrival
Below is where you’ll meet our team based on your mode of travel. There will be visible signage at each location to direct you:
- By flight: Our staff will greet you at the baggage claim at the Quad Cities International Airport (MLI). Please wait by the signage.
- By bus: The nearest bus stop is the Moline Center Station. Our staff will greet you in front of the bus station. Please wait by the entrance.
- By car: If you arrive by car, drive to Swanson Commons, 1010 38th Street, Rock Island, Illinois, between the hours of 9 a.m.–5 p.m., where our team will meet you. There will be visible signage directing you where to go in the building.
Travel plans and delays
- International Student Travel Form: If you’ve already purchased your flight, log into your new student portal and upload your flight information to the international student travel form.
- Please note: We cannot guarantee pick-up assistance outside of the mandatory arrival dates of January 29 and January 30. If you plan to arrive outside these dates, please inform us of your arrival time and date. While we will do our best to assist you, we recommend being prepared to make your own accommodations and transportation arrangements. Below are a few local options for taxis: Lucky Cab at 309-788-8182 and other Taxi Services such as Uber.

9 a.m.-5 p.m. | Arrival and orientation check-in
Swanson Commons (1010 38th Street, Rock Island, IL)
If you are arriving by airplane at the Moline airport or by bus, transportation will be provided to campus by the Office of International Student and Scholar Services (OISSS). Transportation will be available outside the check-in hours, depending on flight and bus arrivals. For those arriving by car, please plan to check in between 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
OISSS staff will be available to assist with check-in and answer any questions. During check-in, students will receive their orientation folder, room key, student ID, and meal card. After check-in, transportation will be provided for those arriving by plane and bus to take students to their assigned residence halls.

Connect with the Office of International Student and Scholar Services (OISSS) during this time to ask questions or simply relax and connect with students. You can also visit with the International Enrollment staff to address any questions related to the new student checklist. All enrollment steps should be completed prior to the first day of class.
11 a.m.-1 p.m. | Lunch dining hours
Gerber Center for Student Life, Dining Hall
Enjoy lunch at your own pace using the meal ticket provided at check-in. You can dine solo or join fellow new students to share a meal and connect during the dining hours.
4:30-6 p.m. | Dinner dining hours
Gerber Center for Student Life, Dining Hall
7 p.m. | Free time
After a long day of travel, take some time to rest and recharge. Whether you want to relax, unpack, or simply take a break, this is your opportunity to refresh.
