All-student orientation

Following is the orientation schedule for all students entering Augustana in the spring semester of 2023.

Monday, Feb. 6

8:30-9 a.m. Breakfast at the Gerber Center dining room

9-9:30 a.m. Student engagement session in Wallenberg Hall inside the Denkmann Memorial Building. 
Presenters will include Dean of Students Dr. Wes Brooks; Dr. Monica M. Smith, vice president of diversity, equity and inclusion; and the Office of Student Life. There will be information on the academic calendar, student activities and Greek life.

9:30-10 a.m. Residential Life and Dining Services will present information on food allergies, accommodation, and meal pickup during observed holidays.

10-10:30 a.m. Student Services and Safety

10:30-11:30 a.m. Business Office/Financial Aid/Insurance

11:30 a.m.-noon Student Success and Counseling

Noon-1 p.m. Lunch, the Gerber Center dining hall

1 p.m. Advising and registration preview. Find out what to expect for advising and registration and learn more about your Augustana degree.

1:30 p.m. Office of Student Life: Getting Involved on Campus (presented by students)

2-4 p.m. International Student Orientation in Wallenberg Hall inside the Denkmann Memorial Building. All international students must attend these sessions. Information will include visa check-in, F-1 and J-1, maintaining status and knowing your rights.

OSL events

6 p.m. Dinner with your peer group at the Gerber Center dining room

6:45 p.m. Target/Kohls/Ross shopping trip. Meet your global ambassador outside of the dining hall. Remember to bring your student ID to ride MetroLink 53 Bus ($1 to ride each way), money for shopping, and shopping list. Bus departs at 7 p.m. from J lot.

Bus returns from Target to Augie every half hour on the hour. Wait at bus stop in front of Target. Dropped off at J-Lot by Gerber Center. The last bus back to campus leaves at 8:45 p.m.

Tuesday, Feb 7

8-10 a.m. Proctored ALEKS math assessment in Olin 307 for students who need a math or computer science course and ALEKS-based placement

10:30-10:45 a.m. Welcome and overview of the day in Wallenberg Hall inside the Denkmann Memorial Building.

10:45 a.m.-noon Peer Connections programming, facilitated by the Office of Student Life and Leadership in Wallenberg Hall inside the Denkmann Memorial Building.

1-3:30 pm. Advising and registration for students who need to complete registration for spring courses. Check in at the You Belong Here Lounge, fourth floor, Gerber Center. A specific check-in time for each student will be shared Feb. 6.
