JSTOR Journal Archive

JSTOR is a digital library of more than 1,500 academic journals, books, and primary sources, available in full-text, from the humanities, social sciences, and sciences. Journals can be searched by title, subject, or discipline. For each journal, articles from the first volume through to two to five years before today's date are available.

Background Notes

From the U.S. State Department, these publications include facts about the land, people, history, government, political conditions, economy, and foreign relations of independent states, some dependencies, and areas of special sovereignty. Background Notes are gradually being replaced by country Fact Sheets, but they contain roughly the same information and all can be accessed via this page.

CensusScope, a site developed by the University of Michigan's Social Science Data Analysis Network, analyzes the vast amount of data gathered in the 1990 and 2000 U.S. Census and displays it in easy-to-understand graphs and charts. Topics charted include racial diversity, segregation, population growth, educational levels, etc. Tables can be copied into word-processing or spreadsheet programs for further manipulation.

The U.S. Government Printing Office's Federal Digital System (FDsys) offers free online access to official publications from all three branches of the Federal Government, including bills and laws, the Congressional Record, the Code of Federal Regulations, and Presidential materials.
