Art exhibition reception: Kaitlyn Niedfeldt '24

Join Augustana's Art Department to celebrate Kaitlyn Niedfeldt's work in preparation for her art education major.

Guest speaker: Dr. Sandra Boham, 'A People of Vision'

A member of the Salish Tribe, Dr. Boham will talk about the experiences of the Salish, Kootenai and North Pend d'Orielle Tribes and about reasons for optimism about the future. The tribes have been the victims of huge injustices perpetrated by the U.S.

Student recital: Andy Frieden, trombone, and Alex Sell, bass trombone

Senior Andy Frieden, a music education major from Roscoe, Ill., and senior Alex Sell, a biochemistry major from Rosemount, Minn., will perform recital. Frieden will play trombone and Sell will play bass trombone.

Student recital: Xander Thomson, voice

Senior Xander Thomson, a computer science and music double major from Batavia, Ill., will perform a voice recital.

Student recital: Savonia Mahr-Threw, double bass

Senior Savonia Mahr-Threw, a French and communication studies double major from Peoria, Ill., will perform a double bass recital.

Low Brass Ensemble concert

The Augustana Low Brass Ensemble will perform.

Low brass are the family of brass instruments consisting of trombones, euphoniums and baritones and tubas.

Fungal Foray Through the Slough

Join the Augustana Mycophiles and a local mushroom expert from 1-2 p.m. to seek out fungal biodiversity on our campus. Please join if you are interested in looking for mushrooms, or if you would like to find out how to educate yourself with summer mycology classes in the Quad Cities.

Presentation: 'U.S. Media and Pop Culture in Sweden'

Join the Swenson Swedish Immigration Research Center for a presentation on and discussion of the history of U.S. media and popular culture in Sweden. Ulf Jonas Bjork, Ph.D., will present.

Augie Acres Planting Day (new date)

Join the Augustana Local Agriculture Society at Augie Acres from 1-3 p.m. for a planting party! The group will do spring planting in the main plot and raised beds and will continue landscaping the garden. No experience is required to help. Note: This event was originally planned for April 28; it been rescheduled to May 4 (10 a.m.-12 p.m.) and May 5 (1-3 p.m.).

Augustana College and NEST Café will welcome Joseph Yoon, world-renowned chef and thought leader in entomophagy ("eating insects"), for an extraordinary evening of education and tasting.
