Photo and recording policy
Augustana College uses photographs, audio and/or video recordings of employees and students for purposes of education, publicity and student recruitment. These photos are used online, in print publications and in other media.
Some photos and recordings are used immediately, while others may be used years from the date taken. Augustana archives photos, recordings, and other similar media and may use such in perpetuity.
Should an employee or student (or the parents or guardians of such persons under the age 18) NOT want to be photographed or recorded, or have their name or biographical information used in connection with any such recording, they must submit a completed photo and recording opt-out form to the Office of Communication and Marketing (see below).
Individuals who submit a completed photo and recording opt-out form also are responsible for removing themselves from areas in which photography and/or recording is taking place, or notifying the camera operator of their opt-out status. Failure to do so may result in that individual’s inclusion in a photograph or recording and will be treated as consent for the college to utilize that photograph or recording accordingly. In the event an individual who completed the photo and recording opt-out form identifies a College use of an image inconsistent with the individual’s request, the individual should inform the Office of Communication and Marketing to allow for removal of any such image.
Public spaces and events
Please be advised that images and videos taken in public spaces and/or at public events, including photos at athletic events, do not require authorization for publication. Your presence in or around college facilities and/or properties, as well as at off-campus college-sponsored, constitutes your consent to the capture and use of your image and/or voice by Augustana College and waives any claims or rights, whether in law or in equity. When a completed photo and recording opt-out form is on file, the college will make its best effort to honor that individual’s opt-out status.
If you do NOT want to be photographed or recorded, or have your name or biographical information used in connection with any such recording, please complete the photo and recording opt-out form below. If you have any questions, please contact Zach O'Connell in the Office of Communication and Marketing.
