Every spring faculty are asked to nominate a senior who has taken advantage of the opportunities Augustana offers in academics, research, study away, athletics, the arts and more. The seniors answer a series of questions to describe their transformative Augustana experience and show what can happen in four years.

This exhibition features the Senior Art Inquiry projects of graphic design, art history and studio art majors in Augustana College’s Class of 2023.

Each student’s work is accompanied by a statement sharing their perspectives and intentions for the artwork. The work in this exhibition was created as a culmination of their classes and individual development as artists and graphic designers.

Writing centers have long sought to help our clients develop agency by giving them the tools to make more informed choices as readers/writers, but this focus is sometimes at odds with student and faculty expectations. Meanwhile, book bans and restrictions on institutions of higher education — including in Iowa — have attempted to minimize agency by silencing marginalized or dissenting voices. At the same time, the recent proliferation of AI-generated text has myriad implications for authorship and voice.
