Well-Being Wednesday Tips
The Dean of Students Office is here to support your well-being outside of the classroom, so that you feel empowered in every part of your student experience and are set up for success. To help make campus life easier to navigate, we’ll be sharing weekly well-being tips each Wednesday.
Feb. 11 tip: Medications and medical care at Augustana
Medications: Plan ahead (future you will thank you)
- Keep a quick note in your phone with your medication name, dose, and prescribing provider.
- Request refills before you run out, especially before weekends, travel, or breaks.
- If cost is a barrier, ask your provider or pharmacist about generic options or discount programs (e.g., GoodRx), or contact the Dean of Students Office for options.
- If you’re an international student and need help filling prescriptions, please contact OISSS for support.
- Whatever you do, don’t stop medications abruptly or without guidance from a medical provider.
- If you think you may need psychiatric medication, please review the options supported by Counseling Services.
Augustana Convenient Care Clinic (on campus)
- If you need an in-person visit, the Augustana Convenient Care Clinic is a great option for common concerns like cold/flu symptoms, sore throat, sinus issues, minor infections, rashes/allergies, or minor injuries.
- To schedule an appointment, click here. For general information (address and phone number), please consult their webpage.
- Bring your Augie ID, insurance card (if you have one), and a list of medications/allergies.
- Please note: Appointments are free; however, costs for medication or additional testing will be handled through the student or employee’s insurance.
Local pharmacies (refills and transfers)
If you need to fill or transfer a prescription to a local pharmacy:
- Call the pharmacy you want to use and say: “I’d like to transfer my prescription here.”
- Ask about text alerts so you’ll know when your medication is ready.
- If you’re unsure which pharmacy is best for you, start with one that’s close to campus and works with your insurance.
TimelyCare (virtual appointments)
For virtual medical and mental health support, you can use TimelyCare to connect with a provider without leaving campus 24/7.
- Download/open TimelyCare through the app and log in with your Augustana email and password.
- Registration is quick and easy.
- Choose the service you need and schedule a time (or use on-demand options if available).
- Tip: Have your symptoms and medication list ready to make the visit smoother.
