DACA forum with President Bahls and Dr. Smith

President Steve Bahls and Dr. Monica Smith, vice president of diversity, equity and inclusion, will hold a forum to discuss news about DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals).

The forum will run from 3:30-5 p.m.

President Bahls will discuss the decision to join about 40 other colleges in filing an amicus curiae brief (also known as a "friend of the court" brief) in the United States Second Circuit Court of Appeals to prevent the revocation of DACA. 

The president will give an overview of the brief and discuss:

•    What the legal case is about.
•    What an amicus curiae brief is and why it can be important.
•    Why he decided that Augustana should join.
•    What criteria he uses in deciding to speak out on matters some consider political.

President Bahls and Dr. Smith also will answer questions from the audience.
