Why did you choose to attend Augustana?
I chose to attend Augustana College because of its emphasis on the liberal arts. I knew that at Augie, I could pursue interests and studies in disciplines besides my major — and I did! I joined the Cantilena Augustana choir and worked at the art museum.
Are you where you thought you’d be four years ago?
Four years ago, I thought I would be in medicine. Now I am pursuing a course of study in biological anthropology at my dream school — St. John’s College, University of Cambridge. I couldn’t ask for more!
Who helped you get to where you are now?
My parents and my professors have been supportive of my endeavors. They challenge and inspire me to do better every day.
A peak experience?
My peak experience is now! I’m currently studying abroad in Ireland, and I am learning so much from the experience of being here.
How did you use your Augie Choice?
I am using Augie Choice to study on Ireland term.
What did you learn about yourself in these past four years that surprised you?
I learned that failure is a part of becoming successful, and that little mistakes along the way are inevitable. I just have to grow from them.
What will you miss the most?
I will miss the atmosphere and the people at Augie the most. I love the feeling of being able to learn anything I possibly want to learn, and I love that everyone at Augie has so many interests and is knowledgeable about so many things.
"I think what Queenie has accomplished over the past two years is remarkable. She transferred here as a junior and has conducted her anthropology Senior Inquiry research project within the Quad Cities’ Chinese community, spent a term abroad in Ireland and is graduating as a double major. She has truly made the most of what Augustana has to offer."
