Why Augustana?

I was recruited to play basketball at Augustana, which is why I initially visited the campus. After meeting some of the basketball players and visiting campus, it just felt like the right place for me.

Are you where you thought you’d be when you first came to campus?

I had no idea where I would be after my four years at Augustana. I came into college with an undecided major and did not decide until my sophomore year that I was interested in pursuing accounting. I could have never imagined all of the opportunities (through athletics, academics, Greek life) Augustana gave me throughout my four years.

Who helped you get to where you are now?

My parents, the women's basketball team, the accounting department and my sorority. They helped me in more ways than one and acted as my support system throughout these last four years.

Peak experience?

Being the captain of the basketball team my senior year. I had the pleasure to be on a team filled with girls who were driven to succeed, but also who know how to live in the moment and have fun. Being able to lead a team of my best friends was an experience I will never forget.

What surprised you?

I learned I can accomplish anything I put my mind to and that my hard work does not go unnoticed.

How did you use Augie Choice?

I used my Augie Choice when I traveled to Italy with the basketball team.

What will you miss the most?

My accounting classmates, my sorority sisters, my teammates, my coaches, and the faculty are the reason I love Augustana, and so I will definitely miss the people the most.

Advice for the Class of 2022?

These four years go faster than you could ever imagine, so make sure to cherish every minute you have on Augie’s campus because soon you will be a senior and wishing you had a pause button.

“Victoria (Torie) has been a pleasure to work with, and she is destined for a great career in public accounting. It is easy to see where Torie gets her grit, determination and leadership skills from watching her on the basketball court. She is another one of those students we call on for recruiting events because she is the model student-athlete we hope to attract to Augustana. Torie has demonstrated you can accomplish ‘more than one would imagine’ in four years with hard work and perseverance.”
