Augie Sweethearts: Kristyna Peterson '07 and Adam Wennmacher '06
Submitted by Kristyna Peterson of LeClaire, Iowa.
We had already started to get to know each through my sorority (CAPs) and his fraternity (Alpha Sigs), but we became much closer after sitting next to each other in Genetics class. One day in class he asked me to come to a “gathering” his fraternity was having, and I went. After that we started to spend more time together. One night we were spending time with a group of friends who decided to go to a bar, and since I wasn’t 21 yet I wasn’t going with. Adam chose to stay back with me. I knew something special was happening between us. We shared our first kiss, and we were officially a couple.
Adam ended up getting a summer job in the Quad Cities and I came to visit often that summer. At that summer job, he met someone who gave him an in at a full time job in the QCA. We grew closer over my senior year, and after I graduated we found an apartment together. We actually ended up working together for a little while!
Adam proposed on a hike at Blackhawk State Park with our dog. Since we weren’t able to have our wedding at Augie, we did do our engagement pictures there. We adopted another pup and started planning! After we married, we bought our first house and moved on to new jobs. Adam is now at MVRBC and I am at Community Health Care. We have two beautiful children, a 5-year-old girl and 2-year-old boy. We actually did one of our family pictures at Augie as well. We just bought our forever home.
Augie holds a special place in our hearts, and I smile every time I drive by!
