We will hold three separate graduation ceremonies for the classes of 2020 and 2021 on Sunday, May 23, in order to allow social distancing of students and families.
If COVID-19 restrictions allow it, the ceremonies will be held at the TaxSlayer Center, 1201 River Drive, Moline, Ill.
"We remain committed to ensuring that the Class of 2020 and Class of 2021 experience a celebration worthy of your remarkable accomplishments during this unprecedented time," said President Steve Bahls.

Dr. Cheryl True '90, a family medicine specialist in Davenport, joined the campus briefing Tuesday to talk about the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine recently administered on campus.
Dean of Students Wes Brooks asked the campus community to continue adhering to requirements for masking, social distancing and keeping groups small. He urged anyone who needs support to use campus resources, such as Student Counseling, peer mentors, community advisors, faculty advisors and online support services.

• The Freistat Center for Studies in World Peace offers grants for students who travel abroad for language study, cultural programs or peace-related studies. Applications for study abroad programs (summer 2021 through spring 2022) are due April 23.
☠️ "Pirates of Penzance" will be staged outdoors in the Anderson Pavilion Thursday-Sunday after bad weather last week.
• Campus Cupboard is expanding its hours to include Fridays. The Cupboard is open in Sorensen 302 from 3-4 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. There will be appropriate items for students who are observing Ramadan.
• Get your application in by Sunday night if you would like to serve in the Student Senate.
Lupita Toscano '21 landed an internship with the Governmental Accounting Standards Board, "the most prestigious in accounting."
Madison Williams '20 has a byline in USA Today: "How NCAA athletes are coping with their collegiate programs being cut."
Readers of the New York Times will find Joshua Malone’s Senior Inquiry geology project featured! (That's Josh above with his SI poster in 2020.)
He theorizes that polished stones he found in Wyoming are gastroliths (stones that animals swallow to help digestion), and that dinosaurs carried them out west from Wisconsin. His paper won Best Undergraduate Paper from the Society for Sedimentary Geology in 2018, and his further research has been published in Terra Nova.
Malone is working on his Ph.D. in geological sciences at the University of Texas. Here he is in More Than I Imagined last year.
