Augustana kicks off its new Global Lecture Series with Arun Manilal Gandhi, grandson of Mahatma Gandhi.
He will give a lecture on Monday, Nov. 14, at 7 p.m. in Centennial Hall.
Fossil's name recalls Augustana English class
A newly named 38-million-year-old catlike mammal will be called Pangurban egiae in honor of a scientist's fond recollection of his Augustana English class.
Dr. Ashley Poust ’06 has named the new species of sabretooth nimravid in honor of his class with Dr. Joseph D. McDowell.
College earns third diversity award
For the third time, Augustana has earned the Higher Education Excellence in Diversity Award from INSIGHT Into Diversity Magazine.
Augustana is among 103 institutions recognized for the award in 2022. It is a national honor demonstrating an outstanding commitment to diversity and inclusion.
Announcements
The seventh annual Augustana College Business Plan Competition invites teams or individual students to present their ideas to a panel of business professionals.
Written business plan submissions are due Jan. 8, 2023.

• Flu shots for students and employees will be offered next week. The student clinic is 9:30 a.m.-2 p.m. Wednesday, and the employee clinic is 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Thursday.
Have cameras, will travel
Senior Sarah Walton poses for a photo with people she met in Lumbini, Nepal. She accompanied Dr. Carolyn Yaschur, associate professor of multimedia journalism and mass communication (MJMC), on her sabbatical project. They are teaching photojournalism to a group of high school girls in collaboration with Girl Reports, a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering girls by teaching them journalism. Walton and Dr. Yaschur took cameras donated by the Augustana community for their photojournalism workshop. Walton is an MMJC, communication studies and theatre performance major from New Lenox, Ill.
