Nearly 2,000 alumni, friends of the college, students and families gathered on campus Oct. 4-6 for Homecoming and Family Weekend. Bingo was a hot ticket for alumni of the last 10 years, and the fall picnic and QuadFest connected Vikings and guests of all ages. Here's a look at the weekend festivities.

Augustana awarded fifth HEED recognition for diversity excellence

INSIGHT Into Diversity magazine's Higher Education Excellence in Diversity award recognizes colleges and universities that demonstrate an outstanding commitment to diversity and inclusion. This is the fifth time the college has earned this national recognition.

Frieze Lectures to examine democracy beginning Oct. 24

This year's Frieze Lectures, a partnership between the Rock Island Public Library and the faculty of Augustana College, will include four presentations related to "Democracy in America." The series will wrap up shortly after the Nov. 5 general election, in which voters will elect the President, 34 U.S. Senators and all 435 Members of Congress.

Dr. Lendol Calder, professor of history, will present "Abraham Lincoln and A House Divided."

Frieze Lecture: 'Unpacking the 2024 Election'

Dr. Paul Baumgardner, assistant professor of political science, will present "Unpacking the 2024 Election."
