Stand Out series: Resume building
The Office of Student Inclusion and Diversity and CORE will offer a Stand Out workshop on resume building.
This series of workshops helps students build job readiness skills and a professional image. Refreshments will be served.
A Stand Out workshop on interviewing and dress code will be offered Jan. 28 at the same time and place.
Boas, Bourdieu, and Bagels: Traditional Irish music
S.A.S.S: The Society for Anthropology and Sociology Students sponsors the Boas, Bourdieu, and Bagels series. Today's talk by Dr. Adam Kaul will explain his research into traditional Irish music and how it communicates across the boundaries of culture and language.
Free bagels and coffee will be provided.
Tea Talks: Pregnancy Tissue Viewing and "Danger Talk" in Abortion Care
The Women's & Gender Studies Tea Talks series features faculty, staff and guest speakers on a range of topics.
Today, Dr. Lena Hann, assistant professor of public health, will discuss her time working in abortion care and her ongoing research that examines how clinicians navigate complex considerations and potentially dangerous discussions about pregnancy tissue behind clinic walls and in public spaces.
Also, Dr. Claire Kovacs, director of the Augustana Teaching Museum of Art, will discuss "Rattling Your Rage: Anger, Provocation, and the SisterSerpents." The SisterSerpents were an anonymous, feminist art collective active in Chicago between 1989-1998.
All Tea Talks are held from 4-5 p.m. Wednesdays in Carlsson Evald Hall in the Great Hall on the first floor.
On March 20, Dr. Michelle Wolff, assistant professor of religion, will speak on "Scholar, Priest, Intersex Activist: Sally Gross."
On April 10, Dr. Kiki Kosnick, assistant professor of French, will speak on "The Possible Life in French: Women, Non-Binary Folks, and the Struggle to Exist in Language."

Hanson 'topping out" ceremony
The campus community is invited to see the traditional "topping out" ceremony at the Hanson Hall expansion site. This ceremony traditionally is held when the last beam is placed atop a structure during its construction. The beam that will be used is the one signed by students, faculty and staff.
The best place to watch will be outside the fence behind Denkmann.

Augustana receives $50,000 to support vocational reflection
In December 2018, Augustana received a $50,000 grant from NetVUE (Network for Vocation in Undergraduate Education) to make vocational reflection more intentional in the academic curriculum and connect what’s learned in the classroom to co-curricular activities.
