Frieze Lectures to reveal life and times of 'French Moderns'

The Frieze Lecture Series is a 21-year partnership between the Rock Island Public Library and Augustana College to present four talks in the fall each year featuring Augustana faculty. This year's theme is "modern lives," in conjunction with the "French Moderns" exhibit at the Figge Art Museum in Davenport.

Westerlund family reunions, 1905-1998

This collection includes biographical information on several members of the Westerlund family, particularly Eric Abraham Westerlund, who settled in Andover, Illinois. The family held their first reunion at the home of A. Luther Westerlund in 1905. Reunions continued sporadically and this collection contains minutes and photographs from these reunions through 1992. Also included are three printed genealogies of the family that include ancestral charts.  

Peter Westerlund biographies, 1908

Peter Westerlund (1839-1937) was born in Hassela parish, Hälsingland, Sweden. In 1850, he left for America with his family and Eric Norelius and settled in Andover, Illinois. In 1859, he left with several others to follow the Gold Rush to Colorado. He remained for a short time in El Paso before coming back to Andover when the South was preparing for war. He farmed from 1865-1882 and then took up banking in Orion. He was married to Eleanora Christina Sophia Hultman in 1863 by Rev. Jonas Swenson. This collection consists of two biographical accounts of Peter Westerlund.
