Alpha Psi Omega National Theatre Honors Society
The purpose of this, the Alpha Omega Chapter of Alpha Psi Omega is to stimulate interest in theatre activities at Augustana College: Rock Island, Illinois and to secure for the college/university all the advantages and mutual helpfulness provided by a large national honor society. Our chapter will be founded according the values of the chapter and remain focused in
Four goals: respect and unity between theatre and the Liberal Arts, offering
fellowship/opportunities to the artists of our chapter, providing service to our community, and awarding the right to theatric experimentation to all those looking for a stage. By electing students to membership, the society provides a reward for their participation in theatre activities of the college/university and support in their endeavors. The chapter is not intended to take the place of any existing theatre organization.
Activities include:
Selling concessions for each main stage production
Partnering with local schools to do theatrical outreach
Electric Theatre Unplugged produces original student written short theatrical works
Experimental theatrical events
Vagina Monologues annual presentation/fundraiser for local women's charities
Relay For Life
Social gatherings
