Cheerleading

The purpose of the Augustana Cheerleading Squad is to bring pride, loyalty and spirit to Augustana and the community. The squad displays good sportsmanship, support to the community, and support for all teams and squads throughout the year.

The goal of the squad is to work with administration, faculty and all athletic teams and organizations in accordance with NCAA Division III rules to bring that pride, loyalty and spirit to the college.

2018-2019 auditions and tryouts

Due to the large number of tryout applicants this past academic year, Augustana will be changing the tryout process. We are now implementing a cheerleading video audition.  This requires students interested in cheerleading to submit an online audition form along with a video.

All applicants must complete the online audition form and submit a audition video by 4:00 pm on Friday, July 27, 2018.  All videos will be reviewed and a first round cut will be made.  Those selected to make it to the final Camp/Tryout will be emailed no later than Friday, August 10, 2018.  Those selected will report for the final tryout which will be held on Saturday, August 25, 2018.  Please see below for specific details.

Audition Videos:

The video can be a recording of at least three different competition routines that you performed in within the last two years, or you can create your own video. If you choose to create your own video, the video must include the following:

Cheer:

  • Sideline or
  • Floor  

Jumps:

  • Toe touch
  • Double jump of your choice

Stunts:

   Group stunting

  • Extension
  • Lib
  • Stunt of your choice

   Co-ed stunting (only required if you have selected the co-ed option)

  • Toss stunt
  • Walk up stunt

Dance:

  • 24 counts of a dance routine (does not have to be an original routine, please feel free to use YouTube or prior routines you have done)

Tumbling:

  • Tumbling is NOT a requirement for the squad, but if you do tumble please choose up to two skills

Please note if you are submitting competition videos you must make it clear who you are in the videos.

All cheerleading audition applications and videos must be submitted no later than 4 p.m. Friday, July 27, 2018.

We will review each of the submissions and notify those selected to move on to the final Cheerleading Camp/Tryout from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 25, 2018, at the PepsiCo Recreation Center.
