Dance Marathon (Vikathon)
Dance Marathon at Augustana College is an annual event to benefit the University of Iowa Children's Hospital in Iowa City. As the largest student-run philanthropic event during the school year, more than 250 students and faculty stay on their feet to raise money and awareness for the Children's Miracle Network and to celebrate the lives of the children we work to support. Musicians, performers, and most importantly, miracle families (families who have overcome a child's illness, families who are continuing the fight against their child's illness, and those who have lost a child to their illness) come to inspire the student dancers during this event.
Mission statement: We strive to support the Greater Quad Cities Area Children's Miracle Network by generating funds to patient care equipment, diversionary activities, research, and patient education.
Our diverse family of talented and dedicate student leaders will use compassion, strength and vision to forge Dance Marathon into a long-lasting tradition of excellence in service to critically ill and injured children.
In an environment thriving on faith in each other, hope for the future and inspiration to achieve, we will stretch the limits of our minds, bodies and spirits to launch the most humanly diverse and personally consuming experience at Augustana College.
