Abstract:
The First Lutheran Church in Sherrard, Illinois was erected in 1908, and dedicated on Sunday, February 14th of 1909. This collection contains pastoral and treasurers reports, as well as records of ministerial acts and membership records dating from 1909-1980.

CONTENT AND STRUCTURE
Administrative/Biographical History:
The First Lutheran Church in Sherrard, Illinois was erected in 1908. The first congregation gathered in this new building in 1909, under the direction of Pastor Ulrik Ronnquist, with a total of 42 people. The Church was dedicated on Sunday, February 14 of 1909. The dedicatory sermon preached by Dr. P. J. Brodine, pastor of the Lutheran Church of Orion. The First Lutheran Church was greatly aided by The Luther League, as well as The Ladies Aid. These organizations helped raise money to aid and renovate the church. The Church is a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America and celebrated its 50th anniversary in 1959.
Scope and Content:
Collection consists of loose-leaf pastoral reports signed by Reverends Gilbert Adolphson (bulk) and Raynold Lingwall and loose-leaf treasurers’ reports signed by C. R. Johnson 1942-1973. Also contains a book of original minutes 1909-1975 with pastoral reports (and absent reports), a book of membership records 1909-1980, and a book of records of ministerial acts 1909-1980 for the First Lutheran Church in Sherrard, Illinois.
