Abstract:
The collection consists of a 4-page autobiography written by Augustana Synod pastor Eugene Theodore Lindeen on May 18, 1948 in Altona, Illinois. Lindeen was born in Swedesburg, Iowa in 1870. Lindeen was ordained in 1899 and served numerous Swedish-American Lutheran Churches in the Midwest.

Lindeen sent the autobiography to Olof Z. Cervin who then gave it to the Augustana College Library. The library transferred the materials to the Swenson Center on January 27, 1984. Accession number T-xx63.

Formerly cataloged as Immig. 929.2 C337 e. Also formerly MSS P:151, it is unclear when the collection number changed. Collection was named “Eugene Theodore Lindeen papers” until July 2020.

CONTENT AND STRUCTURE
Administrative/Biographical History:
Eugene Theodore Lindeen was born on April 6, 1870 on a farm east of Swedesburg, Iowa. He received a B.A. from Iowa Wesleyan in 1894 and an M.A. 1897. He attended the Augustana Seminary, graduating and ordained in 1899.
Lindeen served as pastor for the following churches: Gladstone, Michigan 1899-1901; Munterville, Iowa 1901-1909; Harcourt 1909-1915; Saronville, Nebraska 1915-1918; Monticello, Big Lake, Minnesota 1918-1919; Munterville, Iowa 1919-1922; and Henderson Grove, Illinois 1922-1932.
He married Anna M. Johnson in Swedesburg on June 28, 1899. They had 6 children. He died November 4, 1958.
