Abstract:
These papers contain a brief autobiography of Hortense Lindorff, an inventory of objects at the Jenny Lind Chapel (Andover, Illinois), and inventory of archival records at the First Lutheran Church (Rock Island, Illinois). Hortense Lindorff was a Swedish American and Augustana College graduate. She was a member of First Lutheran Church in Rock Island, Illinois and served on several boards of Swedish-American organizations, including the Jenny Lind Chapel Committee.

CONTENT AND STRUCTURE
Administrative/Biographical History:
Hortense Lindorff was born in 1921 in Salem, South Dakota to Rev. and Mrs. E. Hjalmar Jackson. She graduated from Augustana College in 1963 and taught kindergarten for 15 years in East Moline, Illinois. She married Everett Lindorff and had three children.
Hortense was a member of First Lutheran Church in Rock Island, Illinois and served on the board of American Scandinavian Foundation (president of local chapter 1977-1978), Augustana Historical Society (curatorial committee), and Jenny Lind Chapel Committee (secretary).
