Provenance:    
Murtle Anderson  was baptized “Violet Josephina Myrtle” by Pastor V. Setterdahl of Andover, Illinois on 23 August 1896. Her parents were Peter August Anderson and Helena Mathilda Nero Anderson.

CONTENT AND STRUCTURE

Administrative/Biographical History:    
Peter August Anderson (also known as A.P. Anderson) was born in Fjärås, Halland, Sweden on 16 August 1859 to Andrew Peterson and Petarnella Eriksdotter. He immigrated to the United States in 1881 and began farming north of Cambridge. He married Helena Mathilda Nero on 3 September 1895 in Rock Island, Illinois. He died in Cambridge, Henry County, Illinois on 25 June 1926. 
The American Emigrant Company was created for the purpose of assisting emigrants in settling in the United States. The company had offices in New York and Göteborg, Sweden.

Scope and Content:    
Collection includes agreements and a receipt from the Amerikanska Emigrant Kompaniet (American Emigrant Company). A.P. Anderson used the company to secure passage for himself or A.P. Petterson to the United States. These documents also advertise land in Iowa.
