Lawrence '23 wins competition with 'Flipped Medicine' research
Competing against 500 students from colleges across the country, Alison Lawrence '23 won a first-place prize at the National Conference on Undergraduate Research (NCUR) for her research on bias in the medical profession.
Environmental justice, AI and neuroethics are top of mind for Hasselmo Award co-winners
Juniors Lucas Fahnoe and Zachary Horve are co-recipients of the $5,500 Nils Hasselmo Award for Academic Pursuit. With majors representing the humanities, social sciences and STEM, both will use their award money to assist them on their way to careers addressing some of the world’s most pressing concerns.

The Augustana Oratorio Society, Augustana Choir, Augustana Choral Artists and Augustana Symphony Orchestra are joining together to perform Maurice Duruflé’s “Requiem, Op. 9” and other choral works by French, English and Brazilian composers.

A group of 11 Augustana College juniors were selected to take part in the paid, full-time, 10-week experience at the Texas Medical Center in Houston this summer.
Vikings and opera – beyond the cliché
Athleticism and the arts are a natural at Augustana, especially in opera. Football lineman Spencer Warfield ’23 and fencer Soryn Richter ’26 take the stage in “Amahl and the Night Visitors” on April 21 and 23.

Emily Hogren, a sophomore from Port Byron, Ill., majoring in biology, is the winner of the 2023 Ethics Essay Contest for her paper, "The Commodification of Death: Chain Funeral Homes and Their Impact on Clients and Employees."

Swedish visiting choir to perform April 13
The choir of SVF-Vättern College, Jönköping, Sweden, will perform at Augustana on Thursday, April 13, as part of their 2023 spring tour of Illinois and Minnesota.
