Music education was always close to the heart of Michael LaGow '77. He studied music education at Augustana and played flute in the Augustana Symphonic Band. Following his graduation, he continued his passion for music education by teaching flute lessons and playing in local music ensembles. LaGow passed away in 2022, and his love for Augustana music education continued with a surprise estate gift directed to support the music education department.

Spring ensemble tours deepen performance skills
This spring, the Augustana Symphonic Band traveled the Midwest, the Augustana Choir toured California and the Jenny Lind Vocal Ensemble performed three concerts in Illinois. Through these tours, Augustana students get to experience different cultures and share their love of music with others.

Augustana College recognizes the Class of 2024
The commencement address was given by Dr. Lisa Durant-Jones, who served as Augustana's interim vice president for diversity, equity and inclusion during the 2023-2024 academic year. Viet Bui '24, an engineering physics and computer science double major from Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, was the featured student speaker.
