Notary services
Notary services are available to the campus community for Augustana College-related documents only.
What is a notary? A notary (or notary public) is an official appointed by a state government to serve the public as an impartial witness during notarizations. As ministerial officials, they are expected to follow statutory rules without the exercise of significant personal discretion. (Source: National Notary Association)
Is there a fee? No, this is a free service provided to the campus community for Augustana College-related documents.
What if I need a personal document notarized? You can go online and search for public notaries available in your area. Most public libraries provide notary services to the public.
Students, please note: Students who have documents that are not Augustana College-related (i.e. an out-of-state voting ballot or state vehicle emissions testing exemption form) may contact Trisha Hines-Morrison to determine if notary services can be provided.
How can I get an Augustana College-related document notarized? Please email Trisha Hines-Morrison to schedule an appointment. Appointments are required.
Once you have scheduled your notary appointment:
- Do not sign any documents until you’re in the physical presence of the notary.
- You must bring to your appointment a valid picture ID with your signature displayed on it.
- Acceptable forms of identification are: state-issued ID or driver's license, passport, or military ID.
- Students needing documents notarized for study abroad or internship documents, please note the following:
- We cannot notarize copies of IDs, passports, driver's licenses, credit or debit cards, or birth certificates. If you have a copy of any of these items, you must print out the Witness of Signature Form for each of those documents and bring it with you.
- We cannot notarize any documents that a parent/guardian or employee signed previously. All parties must be present and sign in front of the notary.
- We cannot notarize bank statements.
