What is Phi Beta Kappa?
The Phi Beta Kappa Society strives to celebrate humane learning, which transcends the mere gaining of knowledge to encompass breadth of interest, depth of understanding, intellectual honesty, and an ability to engage in respectful, educated debate with those of differing views. The Phi Beta Kappa Society is one of the nation’s leading advocates for the liberal arts and sciences at the undergraduate level.
Chapter leadership
The Zeta of Illinois Chapter of Phi Beta Kappa is composed of Augustana College faculty, administration, and staff who have been inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa Society by the virtue of their merit at their undergraduate or graduate institutions. The Executive Committee manages chapter activities, coordinates the invitation and induction of new members, and ensures that the chapter remains in good standing with the national organization.
