Viking Connections: Michael Mulick
Michael Mulick is a physician, practicing pediatric Cardiac Anesthesiolgy at the Children's Hospital Los Angeles. He also teaches an undergraduate course called Wilderness and Survival Medicine at the University of Southern California.
"I’m a doctor and enjoy exploring. I trained at Yale-New Haven Hospital followed by two pediatric fellowships. I've worked in Sudan, Nigeria, Thailand, Honduras, and New Zealand. I've also worked for Doctors Without Borders and been to 60 different countries. After living in New Zealand, I spent 9 years at the Children’s Hospital Los Angeles and on faculty at USC. Along the way I climbed three of the seven summits, raced an ironman, got married, and had two children. This year I sold my home and hit the road, living in a trailer with my wife, two kids, and dog. I now enjoy filmmaking, writing, and teaching wilderness & survival medicine. I enjoy giving talks to undergrad students and telling stories about my journey from college student to professor. I'm writing a book about my travels and would love to come and give a talk on campus."
