Living on campus is one of the most memorable experiences of a student’s time at Augustana. The following steps and timetables will let you know what to do and when.
1. Complete the housing application
Please fill out your housing application in your My Housing portal by June 30. You can also complete your profile and complete the roommate questionnaire. You can then search for your perfect roommate, or we can match you with someone.
2. Pay your housing deposit
All students residing in campus housing for the academic year are required to submit a housing deposit of $150. This will be refunded in July of your last year in campus housing.
Note: International students should pay their deposit after they have secured their U.S. visa.
3. Watch your email for your housing assignment
By mid-July, the Office of Residential Life will share your residence hall, room number and roommate information via email.
4. Plan to move in (domestic students move in Aug. 30; international students move in Aug. 25-26)
Fall athletes will receive a move-in date from their coach. Students participating in PACE will move-in on August 25. International Students can arrive on August 25 or 26. All other domestic students will move-in the morning of August 30. When you arrive, you will receive your room key and student ID. More information about move-in will be shared in August.
If you have questions about housing, email Residential Life or call 309-794-2686.
Frequently asked questions
Can I select my building?
No. Like other incoming students, you will be assigned randomly to Westerlin, Andreen or Seminary.
Can I select my roommate?
Yes. If two or three students want to room together, they will need to select each other as roommates from housing.augustana.edu. Students can create roommate groups of 2 or 3 people.
Most incoming students do not select their own roommates. The housing application includes questions about your living habits, which the Office of Residential Life will use to pair you with a compatible roommate. Please don’t feel any pressure to find your own roommate!
If you know whom you want to live with, after completing your application, choose “Select Roommates” under "Housing Selection." All students in a group must confirm. Note that you will only be able to find someone in the system after they have completed their housing application.
If you want to search for a roommate in the system, create a roommate profile under "Personal Information." You can then search for students using the lifestyle questions from the application.
How do I request medical accommodations for housing?
If you have a medical condition that requires a particular accommodation, please complete the medical accommodation form and attach supporting documentation by June 30 to ensure that you receive an assignment that meets your needs.
Do all of the halls have air conditioning?
Not all first-year residence halls have air conditioning. While the first few weeks of the school year will be warm, the weather during most of the school year ranges from comfortable to cold. If you require air conditioning due to a medical condition, please submit a medical accommodation request by June 30.
How does laundry work?
Laundry costs $1.25 to wash and $1.25 to dry. Students will need to download the CleanPay mobile app to pay for laundry on campus.
- CleanPay mobile app instructions:
- Download the CleanPay Mobile app from the App Store or Google Play and create an account.
- When you enter the laundry room and open the app, your phone will "find" the machines and show what is available or busy.
- Choose your machine by scanning the QR code sticker via the app.
- Confirm the vend price, load your clothes and detergent then press the blinking start button on the machine.
How are the rooms furnished?
Each student will have an extra-long twin bed, a desk, a desk chair, a dresser and closet space. Each room also includes a trash bin, a recycling bin, and window blinds.
What should I bring?
Here is our list of recommended items to bring, and things you should leave at home.
How do I get my bed lofted?
You can request to have your bed bunked or lofted online. This is a service provided by Bedloft.com. You can also rent a microfridge from bedloft.com. These will be delivered to your room before move-in day.
What are the dimensions of my room?
We provide floor plan drawings of all of our first-year residence hall rooms. After you get your housing assignment in mid-July, you can find the dimensions of your room.
