Frequently asked questions
Can I select my roommate?
Yes. If two students want to room together, they will need to select each other as preferred roommates on the housing application. The system will only pair them together if they both select each other.
Most incoming students do not select a preferred roommate. The housing application will include questions about your living habits, which the Office of Residential Life will use to pair you with a compatible roommate.
Can I select my building?
No. Incoming students are assigned randomly to Westerlin, Andreen or Seminary.
How do I request medical accommodations for housing?
If you have a medical condition that requires a particular accommodation, please complete the medical accommodation form and attach supporting documentation by June 30.
Do all of the halls have air conditioning?
No. Not all first-year residence halls have air conditioning. While the first few weeks of the school year will be warm, the weather during most of the school year ranges from comfortable to cold.
How does laundry work?
Students buy a laundry card from the Office of Residential Life or from kiosks in Westerlin, the Gerber Center, or Swanson. Money can be added to the cards at the kiosks or by purchasing codes online at Family Pride Laundries.
How are rooms furnished?
Each student will have an extra-long twin bed, a desk, a desk chair, a dresser and closet space.
What should I bring?
Here is our list of recommended items to bring, and things you should leave at home.
How do I get my bed lofted?
Students can request to have their bed bunked or lofted online. This is a service provided by Bedloft.com. Students can also rent a microfridge or buy a futon. These will be delivered to your room before move-in day.
