Dames at Sea
The Mississippi Bend Players will present the song-and-dance comedy "Dames at Sea" July 26-28 and Aug. 2-4.
Friday and Saturday performances are at 7:30 p.m. Sunday matinees begin at 2 p.m.
A long-running off-Broadway hit that brought stardom to Bernadette Peters, "Dames at Sea" both salutes and spoofs Hollywood musicals of the '30s.
Sweet little Ruby from faraway Hometown, U.S.A., has come to make it big in big-time New York. Ruby steps off a bus and into her first Broadway show, but hours before the opening-night curtain, the cast learns the theatre is going to be demolished. Can Ruby save the day, and her fledgling career, with the aid of a handsome songwriter and fellow Hometown native?
The show was selected as “Best Musical of the Year” by Time, Newsweek, and the Outer Critics Circle.
A Green River
The Mississippi Bend Players will present "A Green River, " an original work by local playwright Aaron Randolph III July 12-14.
Friday and Saturday performances are at 7:30 p.m. The Sunday matinee begins at 2 p.m.
Army soldier Erik White, having been stationed overseas, has returned home to a world he no longer recognizes. Erik must face the challenges of everyday life, including bearing the weight of his haunted memories, while continuing to struggle with a war he can't leave behind.
Each performance will feature a talk-back and Q&A session with military veterans and the show's cast and director.
Pre-show entertainment will be offered in the newly opened Anderson Outdoor Pavilion at the Brunner Theatre Center. The band Control Room will play from 6:45-7:15 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays and 1:15-1:45 on Sundays.
The play contains adult language and content, including portrayals and depictions of battlegrounds, gunfire, and death that could be potentially triggering for some audience members. The play is intended for mature audiences only.

Biloxi Blues
The Mississippi Bend Players will present present Neil Simon's "Biloxi Blues" June 21-23.
Friday and Saturday performances are at 7:30 p.m. Sunday matinees begin at 2 p.m.
The semi-autobiographical play is the second in a trilogy, following "Brighton Beach Memoirs," which the Players staged last summer.
When the audience met Eugene Jerome in "Brighton Beach Memoirs," he was coping with adolescence in 1930s Brooklyn. In "Biloxi Blues" he is a young army recruit during WW II, going through basic training and learning about life and love along with some harsher lessons, at boot camp in Biloxi, Miss.
"Biloxi Blues" won the Tony Award for Best Play in 1985.
