Make Valentines with Mortar Board
Mortar Board will supply the materials to make a Valentine's card for seniors in a local nursing home. Card-making will run from 10 a.m.-3 p.m.
It is celebrating Mortar Board Week, so you can learn about the group.
Lip Sync Battle
See the first-ever Lip Sync Battle with MPB,OSID and BSU.
First prize is $500; second prize is $250, and third place will receive $100. Contestants must sign up by 4 p.m. Feb 10.
The event will begin at 7 p.m. and run until every group can perform, and then voting will be sent out for the audience to participate.Then a combination of the audience and judges' scores will be added and the winner will be presented.

Viking Olympics
The Office of Student Life will host Viking Olympics, a competition featuring a series of “timed” events:
Blow up target practice: Football, basketball, and baseball
Free-throw contest
Archery
Relay race around PepsiCo Track
You and four other members of any student organization (team, Greek chapter, international, clubs, etc.) sign up and compete in all of these events. Each team member will participate in each event and the best score is taken down for each team. Teams with the highest places in all of the events will receive prizes ($500, $300, $150) for their organization.
African American Read-In
The National African American Read-In encourages communities to read together, centering African American books and authors.
This year will featuring two sets, one from Dat Poetry Lounge reading original works and the other from the Black Student Union. All faculty, staff and students are welcome to participate. Contributions can be fiction, nonfiction, poetry, music, lyrics, etc. The event will continue through 4 p.m.
The Read-in was established in 1990 by the Black Caucus of the National Council of Teachers of English to make literacy a significant part of Black History Month.
Anyone who wishes to participate is welcome; please sign up for a reading time by Feb. 12.
Microscholarship webinar: Justice and social change
Alumni are invited to learn more about what Augustana has done, is doing and planning to impact justice and social change.
Dr. Monica Smith, vice president for diversity, equity and inclusion, and W. Kent Barnds, executive vice president of external relations, will explain how Augustana worked and planned through the unrest in the summer of 2020 to serve students.
Dr. Smith will review the programming offered throughout the summer and fall. She and Barnds will describe the new Justice and Social Change Microscholarship program. It is designed to prepare new students for the complex discussions that happen at Augustana, and to show alumni working for justice and social change.
