Delta Chi Theta hangout
Students are invited to mingle with the ladies of Delta Chi Theta and get their fill of fall drinks and treats. There will be members in each dorm at 5:15 p.m. to escort you to the event. The hangout will last until 8:30 p.m.
"For the Bible Tells Me So"
Students are invited to see the documentary film, "For the Bible Tells Me So," and join in a short discussion.
IMDB description: An exploration of the intersection between religion and homosexuality in the U.S. and how the religious right has used its interpretation of the Bible to stigmatize the gay community.
Pizza will be served.
The film is sponsored by the Honors program and Augustana's Presidential Center for Faith and Learning, Campus Ministries, the Office of the Provost and Dean of the College, and Women and Gender Studies.
Sloughfest info meeting
The executive board of SloughFest will discuss planning for the May event, artist relations, finances, marketing, sponsorships and creative direction. Students are invited to attend and learn how they can get involved.
Chi Alpha Pi meet and greet
The ladies of Augustana are invited to the Chi Alpha Pi meet and greet to learn more about the sorority and enjoy a build-it-yourself s'mores bar. This event will run from 7-9 p.m.
Valentine's Day Bingo
The Office of Student Life presents Valentine's Day-themed Bingo. There will be $500 in cash prizes.
Doors open at 8:45.
SGA blood drive
The Student Government Association will be hosting the second blood drive of the year from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Students interested in donating should sign up. Remember to eat before and bring a photo ID.
Worship and pie
All students are invited to come worship at the Ascension Chapel. Immediately after, they will be serving apple and pumpkin pie.
Study in Sweden info session
Students interested in studying in Europe should attend this informational meeting to learn about two of Augustana College's annual exchange programs in Sweden.
These are fall 2019 in Jönköping, Sweden, at Södra Vätterbygdens Folkhögskola SVF, or spring 2020 at Uppsala University near Stockholm. There also is an option for a full academic year 2019-2020 at Uppsala.
The deadline for fall 2019 is Dec. 10, 2018.

SVF is in central Sweden on the shores of one of Sweden’s great lakes, Lake Vättern, in the province of Småland. Students will spend fall semester exploring Sweden with a cohort of Swedish and American students, as well as trips to European cities like Rome, Copenhagen, and Berlin.
SVF is a small, cozy school which has been welcoming American exchange students for more than 45 years, one of the longest running exchange programs between Sweden and the United States.
Augustana has a longstanding relationship with Uppsala University, one of Europe's prestigious academic centers and Sweden's premiere school for the liberal arts. Founded in 1477, the university is one of the oldest schools in northern Europe.
With Augustana's exchange program, students in any major can spend a semester or a year in Sweden, earning 12-30 credits in numerous fields. This program is open to any major and is recommended for students in Scandinavian studies, business administration, political science, history, English and all traditional liberal arts and sciences.
Research in Field Biology info session
Students interested in field biology, environmental studies or photography can learn about the two-week Research in Field Biology (BIOL465) summer course for 2019.
Dr. Steve Hager will explain the nature of the course, activities, logistics and cost.
Research in Field Biology is a summer Senior Inquiry class. Students collect field data on habitat restoration and management using GPS units, field notes, and photographs, and, using the data collected, create digital maps and conduct spatial analyses in a Geographic Information System (GIS).
Fieldwork, photography, and GIS are done at Green Wing Environmental Laboratory, an Augustana College field station located near Amboy, Ill.
Research in Field Biology runs every day for about two weeks beginning immediately after graduation in May 2019, and enrollment is limited to eight students.
Both GIS and photography are taught during this class so no previous experience is necessary. Moreover, each student will be provided with a laptop computer with GIS and a DSLR camera for photography for the duration of the course.
The cost to enroll in Research in Field Biology is equivalent to an on campus 3-credit summer school class at Augustana College (~$2,600) and covers tuition and room/board for two weeks at Green Wing. Augie Choice may be used to help offset most of the cost.
Enactus info meeting
Students are invited to learn about a new student group, Augustana Enactus.
Enactus is a national organization that establishes student programs to "deploy entrepreneurial action to improve the human condition and enable sustainable human progress."
Augustana Enactus is open to all majors.
