Theatre grad directs Shakespeare classic at MHS
Calvin Vo '13, a theatre and English major at Augustana, charged his Moline High School (MHS) students with creating a unique production of Shakespeare's "A Midsummer Night's Dream." The 16th-century comedy will be transported to 19th-century Moline. "One of my big pushes here at Moline is to emphasize dramaturgy," which was a major focus at Augustana, Vo said.

Frieze Lectures to examine democracy beginning Oct. 24
This year's Frieze Lectures, a partnership between the Rock Island Public Library and the faculty of Augustana College, will include four presentations related to "Democracy in America." The series will wrap up shortly after the Nov. 5 general election, in which voters will elect the President, 34 U.S. Senators and all 435 Members of Congress.
My FIRST Passport
The My FIRST Passport Award is a grant to assist first- and second-year students obtain a passport. Having a passport can open new opportunities for students to explore the world. Students who have a valid passport have an easier time studying abroad, traveling abroad for research, attending professional conferences abroad, and much more.

Augustana awarded $105,000 to launch business-liberal arts scholars program
Augustana will enroll students in its inaugural Business for Humanity (previously Business Education Steeped in the Liberal Arts) cohort in fall 2025. Business administration majors enrolling in Business in Humanity will pursue a second major or minor in the traditional liberal arts.

Augustana announces the election of Brent Gwaltney ’84 to the college’s Board of Trustees. Gwaltney has spent the majority of his three-decade career involved in the management, construction, operation, and financing of world-scale petrochemical facilities.
