“The Lutheran Church in Illinois” Francis Springer manuscript, undated 

Francis Springer, a descendant of one of the Delaware Swedes, was the first president of Illinois State University in Springfield in 1852. He voiced the opinion that immigrants should make the transition to the English language as quickly as possible and accept the reformed church order of American Lutheranism. Collection consists of one typed article titled “Article III, The Lutheran Church in Illinois” by Rev. Francis Springer, D.D, Irving, Illinois.
