Bikes, the Chicago fire department and Augustana
During the course of this school year, Augustana faculty members donated another 33 bikes to a program run by Fire Engine Co. 16 in one of Chicago’s poorest neighborhoods. On June 6 at a special event, those bikes, along with several hundred more, will be given to students who have had perfect or near perfect attendance and good records in school.

Out-of-State Award
The Augustana College Out-of-State Award offers $4,000 ($1,000 per year for four years) for students who live outside of Illinois.

Ethics winners
Dr. Dan Lee of the Augustana Center for the Study of Ethics has announced the winners of the 10th annual Ethics Essay Contest. The winners will be recognized at the Celebration of Learning May 6.
A passion for the stars, a mission for Augustana
In 1969, a Saturn V rocket thrust Apollo 11 towards the moon. That same year, Augustana College threw open the doors to its new John Deere Planetarium and Carl Gamble Observatory. Both successfully completed the mission.
