Former Deere CEO and 1948 Augustana alumnus Robert Hanson and his wife, Patricia Hanson, have generously given $8 million, the largest single gift in the history of Augustana College, to name the Science Building and the building's lecture hall wing at Augustana.

Augustana establishes new endowed chair while partnering with Illinois Audubon Society to preserve environmental laboratory
This past December, Augustana College sold 395 of its 410-acre Green Wing Environmental Laboratory near Amboy, Illinois, to the Illinois Audubon Society for $2.1 million. Proceeds from the sale of the property will fund ongoing operations of Augustana’s three environmental field stations, as well as establish the Dr. Bohdan Dziadyk Distinguished Chair in Environmental Science and Conservation. In addition to the endowed chair, proceeds from the sale will contribute to a pending addition to the Hanson Hall of Science on campus.
Augustana to offer master’s degree in speech-language pathology
A critical nationwide need for speech-language pathologists has emerged in the last decade, and Augustana is ready to fill the gap. Starting in 2020, students can begin work on their master’s degree in speech-language pathology.
