Visiting the Fryxell Geology Museum
Visitors to the Fryxell Geology Museum will see a complete skeleton of a Platecarpus "sea serpent," skulls of Parasaurolophus, Ankylosaurus, Apatosaurus, Allosaurus and Tyrannosaurus rex.
Newell selected as Augustana College’s director of choral activities
Augustana has appointed Eric Newell as director of choral activities beginning fall 2026. Dr. Newell’s duties will include conducting the Augustana Choir, succeeding longtime conductor Dr. Jon Hurty, who is retiring in June 2026.
Hilltop CDC names first executive director
Leading this next phase is Jerry Lack, newly appointed executive director of the Augustana Hilltop Community Development Corporation (CDC). A lifelong resident of the Quad Cities, Lack brings decades of experience in economic development, labor leadership and public service.
Astronomy at Augustana: My journey
I have always known that I wanted to study astronomy, and coming to Augustana College has
allowed me to explore many different areas of astronomy and astrophysics. Ever since my first
year, my semesters have been filled with conferences, trainings and hands-on experience that
has prepared me for my future in this field.
