SGA Committees
Committees are the heart of our organization. They bring projects to the table and collaborate with students and administrators. Committee Chairs work closely with our Chief of Staff to work on project development and management practices to serve the student body.
Student Well-being
Co-chairs: Seth Rohr and Alexis Osei-Kofi
The Student Well-Being Committee will work to further develop a positive and healthy campus environment for all students. The goal of this committee is to incite positive change for the student body and to find long term solutions to issues around student well-being. Members of the committee should look broadly at all aspects of student well-being to build a strong culture of health, safety and overall well-being within the campus community. This committee, as well as all other Student Government Association of Augustana College Committees, is committed to supporting our student body above all else.
College Finance
Chair: Alex Anderson
The College Finance Committee will work to foster increased community awareness of college finances in areas including, but not limited to, tuition, financial aid and the college budget. The goal of this committee is to provide the student body with a deeper understanding of college finances, processes and policies. Members of the committee should work alongside administrators to gain a deep understanding of college finances and to advocate for financial policy changes on behalf of the student body. This committee, as well as all other Student Government Association of Augustana College Committees, is committed to supporting our student body above all else.
Diversity and Inclusion
Chair: Lyka May Canto
The Diversity and Inclusion Committee will work to advance a campus culture that promotes, supports and appreciates diversity and inclusion. The goal of this committee is to educate and engage the campus community in meaningful conversations around issues and topics related to the key aspects of identity including gender, social class, age, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity, religion, age and disability. Members of this committee should focus on being vociferous advocates for all students of diverse backgrounds in an effort to find solutions to inequalities that are found in higher education and society as a whole. This committee, as well as all other Student Government Association of Augustana College Committees, is committed to supporting our student body above all else.
Documents
Chair: Eva Schmitt
The Documents Committee will work to improve the internal operations of the Student Government Association of Augustana College. The goal of this committee is to ensure that the governing documents of our organization accurately reflect the mission and goals of Student Government Association. Members of the committee should revise and propose amendments to the Constitution and Bylaws of the organization and should also assist the Student Senate in navigating the organization’s procedural rules and operations. This committee, as well as all other Student Government Association of Augustana College Committees, is committed to supporting our student body above all else.
Public Relations
Chair: Nishal Weems
The Public Relations Committee will be the bridge between SGA, the student body at large, and student organizations on campus. The goal of this committee is to serve students directly by communicating in a manner that fulfills our organization’s commitment to transparency. Members of this committee should prioritize campus outreach and be open to networking with our other committees and student groups to uplift each other’s projects, missions, and voices. This committee, as well as all other Student Government Association of Augustana College Committees, is committed to supporting our student body above all else.
Rotating
Chair: Kaite Zaborenko
The Rotating Committee will work to identify and solve any campus needs that fall outside of the projects of other committees. The goal of this committee is to fulfill the Student Government Association’s mission statement by working on a series of ad hoc projects that directly impact the student body. Members of this committee should be flexible, creative and willing to focus on a wide variety of issues and topics. This committee, as well as all other Student Government Association of Augustana College Committees, is committed to supporting our student body above all else.
