Break housing

Please see important dates for all college break periods and meal plan dates for dates when meal plans are not in effect.

Fall break

During fall break, halls will remain open and meal plans will remain in effect. 

Thanksgiving break

During Thanksgiving break, halls will remain open. There will be no meal service beginning the Wednesday of Thanksgiving break. Meals will resume the Sunday following Thanksgiving for brunch. 

Winter break

Halls will close on Saturday following exam week and will reopen on the Sunday prior to the start of J-term classes. Students not enrolled in J-term should plan to return on the Tuesday prior to the start of spring semester classes. Meal service will end on the last day of final exams and will resume the day before classes begin in January. 

Students are expected to leave campus during winter break. However, students will have the option to sign up for break housing for a fee of $50 per night. The Office of Residential Life will share a break housing sign-up form prior to the break. Students in the following groups will have break housing fees waived:

• TLA residents
• International students
• Domestic students with a home address more than 400 miles from campus
• Athletes who are competing during the break period
• Students participating in a college sponsored activity
• Students experiencing homelessness

J-term break

Halls will remain open during the break period between J-term and Spring semester. There will be no meal service starting the Thursday after J-term classes end until the Tuesday prior to the start of spring semester classes.

Spring break

Halls will close on Saturday and will reopen the day prior to the start of classes. There will be no meal service during spring break.   

Students are expected to leave campus during spring break. However, students will have the option to sign up for break housing for a fee of $50 per night.
