Alumni trip to France and Sweden
June 1-11, 2018
Join fellow Augustana alumni, friends and President Steve Bahls and Jane Easter Bahls on a magnificent trip to the French Riviera, Monaco and Sweden, culminating in the final concert of the Augustana Choir's tour in the historic Uppsala Cathedral.
Itinerary
For those interested in arriving in Nice to attend the Augustana Choir's concert on May 30, see the optional extension information below the itinerary.
June 1 – Fly to Nice, France
June 2 – Arrive in Nice. Check into Hotel Albert in the Old Town of Nice and enjoy a three-course dinner at Le Grand Balcon.
June 3 – Take a charter coach to the Marc Chagall and Matisse museums, enjoy free time for lunch, shopping and, of course, the beach. visit Chateau de Cremat vineyard for a wine and food tasting. Lunch and a three-course dinner are included.
June 4 – Guided tour of Nice's Old Town, including a visit to a local candy store. Lunch is included.
June 5 – Take a charter coach to Eze, an old medieval town with breathtaking views of the Mediterranean. We then will visit the Fragonard perfume factory before going to Monaco for some free time. A three-course dinner is included.
June 6 – Enjoy a full day tour of the charming town of Antibes and further to Cannes. A three-course dinner is included.
June 7 – Take a charter coach to the Nice airport and fly to Stockholm aboard SAS 1828 (including 1 bag, maximum 23 kilo and 1 hand luggage, maximum 8 kilo). Check in at Scandic No. 53 and enjoy dinner.
June 8 – Full day guided tour by bus in Stockholm, including the Vasa museum, Skansen outdoor museum and lunch.
June 9 – Travel to Dalarna for a guided tour of famous artist Zorn's home. Lunch is included before visiting where the famous Dala horses are made. Check into Hotel Moraparken in Dalarna and enjoy dinner.
June 10 – Take a guided tour of artist Carl Larsson's home. Lunch is included before traveling to Uppsala for the Augustana Choir's concert in the Uppsala Cathedral, followed by dinner with the choir. We'll spend the night in Uppsala at Elite Hotel Academia.
June 11 – Travel to the Arlanda airport to fly home or elsewhere.
Breakfast is provided each morning at the hotels. Some lunches include one beer, glass of wine or soda. Beverages are not included with the dinners.
Cost and Inclusions
Cost for the trip is $2,350 per person which includes hotel accommodations (in a double room), charter coach transportation, the meals included in the itinerary, entry fees to the activities listed in the itinerary and a tour guide. If you wish to have a single room, the total cost is $2,850. This does not include airfare to and from Europe; however, the flight from Nice to Stockholm is included.
Airfare
Those traveling on the trip are responsible for booking their own airfare to and from Europe; the flight between Nice and Stockholm is included in the cost of the trip. Charter bus transportation from the airport in Nice and to the airport in Stockholm will accommodate the preferred flight schedule, as listed below. Those booking flights different from the preferred flights are advised to book flights that will allow you to make the charter bus transfers; otherwise, you are responsible for providing your own transportation to/from the airports.

Contact and Deposit
To secure your place on the trip, a $500 deposit is required by Jan. 31, 2017. If we do not reach the minimum number of participants by this date, the trip will be canceled and refunds will be awarded to those who already have made a deposit.
After Jan. 31, no refunds will be given for any deposits or payments made to the trip.
Allianz Travel Insurance offers reasonable rates for trip protection and emergencies.

Optional extension to attend an additional Augustana Choir concert
The full trip itinerary includes attending the Augustana Choir's final concert of their European tour in the Uppsala Cathedral in Sweden.
The choir also will perform in Nice on May 30, and those interested in arriving in Nice before the main trip begins may do so and stay at the group hotel (Hotel Albert) for an additional 95 euros/night per person in a double room or 175 euros/night per person in a single room. Breakfast is included. Taxis from the Nice airport to the hotel typically run 35 euros or less.
Space is limited to 10 rooms for this addition.
