Augie Sweethearts: Abigail Smith and Gregory Goodman, Class of 2018

Greg and I grew up in the same town but attended different schools until high school. However, we were in the same junior high band from fifth grade until eighth grade but never spoke to each other. We became friends and started talking to each other once we were in the same choir and when we got casted as a stage couple in the spring musical during our junior year of high school. It was November 2013 that Greg asked me to be his girlfriend by writing “Will you be my girlfriend?” in green marker on a Starbucks cup (my favorite place in the entire world).

We spent our entire senior year making amazing memories together and we were lucky enough to both be accepted to Augustana College. Augie gave us four years of memories, best friends, adventures and growth. Our Augie adventures ended on the best note possible when we both toured Europe with the Augustana Choir. Fast-forward a couple of months, Greg took me to Starved Rock, got down on one knee and proposed to me on Dec. 7, 2018. He is the absolute love of my life and I can not thank him enough for everything he has done for me and for making Augustana always feel like home.
