Augie Sweethearts: Ethan Doan and Eileen Ruppel-Doan, Class of 2018

We met our very first weekend of our first term at Augustana, at the Campus Ministries Campout, which turned into a day-long canoeing event due to rain. We met by getting into the same canoe, along with Eileen's friend Aerielle. This began a strong friendship that turned into dating by the Spring of our first year and continued throughout our time at Augie. During our senior year, Ethan proposed in Ascension Chapel, right after the Lessons & Carols Christmas service at which we had both been lesson readers. We were married in Rock Island on May 21, 2018, the day after our graduation from Augustana. We are now living in Philadelphia and both attending United Lutheran Seminary.
