Augie Sweethearts: Greta Hanson and Michael Mortenson, Class of 1996

Mike and I met our first day of college, as we were both in the same Freshman Orientation group!  Later that year, when we were in “Religion in America” together, Mike asked to meet me after class to borrow my notes. I thought it was a cryptic way of asking me out, but it turned out he just wanted my notes!  Our sophomore year, when I saw Mike's picture in the Augie newspaper, I cut it out and sent it to him with a note.  He took the hint, asked me on a date, and the rest is history!

We were married on Oct. 4, 1997, in the beautiful Ascension Chapel by our dear Pastor Swanson.  Augustana brought another couple together on our wedding day — my Augie roommate and my brother hit it off at our wedding, and got married themselves three years later!
