Augie Sweethearts: Lucas and Shannon Westblade, Class of 2011

Shannon and I met freshman year when we both lived in Seminary. Shannon's first memory is September 19th which is 'Talk Like A Pirate Day' and I apparently introduced myself with 'ahoy' instead of 'hi.' We became friends and were near inseparable causing all kinds of terror to the dorm. Over our time at Augie we bonded from our shared time in Young Life, Campus Ministries and running track (me running and Shannon 'super fanning').

We remained close, but did not start dating until the summer between Junior and Senior year. That was a sweet time as we spent so much time together, from being on part time staff with Young Life, to Shannon leading the Campus Ministries trip to Appalachia that spring, to finishing our History major capstones together.

Following graduation we spent a year engaged before returning to campus to get married in Ascension Chapel October 2012.
